If you updated a page but the live website still shows old content, the change may not have been published, you may be viewing another version of the page, or a cache may be displaying older information.
Check that the change was saved
- Open the page in WordPress and confirm the new text or image is present in the editor.
- Select Update, Publish, or the page builder’s save action as appropriate.
- If the editor has a separate Save and Exit process, make sure you completed both.
- Confirm you edited the intended page and language, not a draft, template, staging copy, or similarly named page.
Check the public view
- Open the page in a private/incognito window while signed out of WordPress.
- Refresh the browser and test in a different browser or device.
- Confirm that the public URL matches the page you edited, including
www, path, and any language suffix. - If your site uses a cache plugin or optimization service and you have permission, use its Clear/Purge Cache control.
- If the site uses a CDN such as Cloudflare, its cache may also need to be purged by an administrator.
Other possible causes
- A page builder has its own generated CSS or cache.
- A website staging environment was edited instead of the live site.
- A scheduled or pending change was saved but not published.
- A browser or device has retained an older image with the same filename.
What not to do
Avoid repeatedly deleting cache plugins, renaming site folders, or changing DNS. These are not appropriate first steps for an individual page edit.
Still need help?
Send the exact page URL, a screenshot of the new version in the editor, a screenshot of the old public version, and approximately when you saved the update.
