Run a Wordfence Scan and Understand the Results

What this covers: Scanning, reading alerts, and safe next actions.

Steps

1. Go to Wordfence → Scan.

2. Click Start New Scan.

3. Wait for scan completion (you can keep the tab open).

4. Review results by severity:

   • Critical (malware, compromised admin)

   • High (plugin/theme vulnerabilities)

   • Medium/Low (hardening suggestions)

5. For each item, click View Details and confirm what file/plugin it references.

6. Take safe actions first:

   • Update plugins/themes/core

   • Remove unused plugins/themes

7. If malware is flagged:

   • Use Wordfence’s Repair option for core files (when available)

   • Quarantine suspicious files only if you understand what they are

8. Re-scan after fixes to confirm a clean report.
