Your domain registration must remain active to keep the name assigned to you. Domain renewal is separate from website hosting and may be handled by a different company or by your agency on your behalf.
Find the responsible registrar or billing provider
- Review your original registration confirmation and recent domain-related invoices.
- Check your client portal for a domain registration or renewal section, if one is provided.
- If you do not recognize the registrar, ask support who manages the domain and who is responsible for payment.
- Confirm that the registrant contact email is valid so renewal notices reach an authorized person.
Renew a domain
- Sign in to the approved registrar or billing portal.
- Select the domain name and view its expiration date.
- Choose Renew or verify that automatic renewal is enabled and the payment method is current.
- Review the renewal term and price before confirming.
- Save the receipt and confirm that the new expiration date appears in your account.
Best practices
- Keep renewal contact details and billing information current.
- Enable auto-renew where appropriate, but also set an independent calendar reminder.
- Make sure the domain owner and billing contact understand who has authority to renew or transfer the domain.
- Treat unexpected renewal notices cautiously; scammers sometimes send misleading “renewal” or “transfer” invoices.
If your agency manages renewals
Your provider may renew domains on your behalf under your agreement. Confirm the renewal policy and whether renewal fees are included or billed separately.
Still need help?
Provide the domain name and ask support to confirm the registrar, expiration date, renewal responsibility, and next action. Do not share payment-card information through a support ticket.
