How Do I Edit Text and Images on My Website?

If you have an appropriate WordPress role, you may be able to update page text, replace photos, and correct business information yourself. The exact editor depends on whether your website uses the WordPress block editor, Divi, Elementor, or another page builder.

Before you edit

  1. Sign in to WordPress.
  2. Navigate to Pages and open the page you want to change, or use Posts for a blog entry.
  3. Check which editor the page uses. If you see a button to edit with a page builder, use the existing builder rather than switching editor types.
  4. Consider saving a draft or asking about backups before making major layout changes.

Update text

  1. Open the existing text element or block.
  2. Select only the wording you want to change.
  3. Edit the content without deleting the surrounding layout elements.
  4. Use Preview if available to check the result on desktop and mobile.
  5. Select Update or the builder’s save/publish action when you are satisfied.

Replace an image

  1. Open the current image element and choose Replace, Change Image, or its equivalent.
  2. Upload a suitably sized, optimized image or select one from the Media Library.
  3. Add meaningful alternative text when the image conveys information.
  4. Check cropping and alignment in desktop and mobile previews.
  5. Save the page and view it on the live website.

If the page looks wrong

Do not keep editing randomly. Cancel or use the editor’s undo/revision feature if supported. A page builder may have its own revision history.

Still need help?

Provide the page URL, the wording or image to replace, and a description or screenshot of the requested result. If your agreement includes managed content updates, your agency may be able to make the change for you.
